Having been recently diagnosed with a small 1cm polyp and fibroid, i started to wonder what could have caused this? I tried to look for anything that has changed for me in the last few months. Diet, weight, exercise has been the same. However, having a look back at the last 3 months, there were 2 changes in my life. One was stress related to job loss. Panic attacks followed. The other factor was that i started using a sunscreen from the Cancer Council Australia. Nearly everyday i would slop this stuff on my skin- legs, arms and face. This is because i am white skiined and burn very easily. 30 minutes in the sun and i turn red! Then i came across this interesting article written by Dr Dingle, who mentions that some of the ingredients in sunscreens are toxic and can cause harmful effects. drdingle.com/docs/sunsreens_final1.pdfSpecifically, the compound 4-MBC 4-Methylbenzylidene camphor. competes with estradiol for estrogen binding sites in the uterus, indicating that it may act as an environmental estrogen. He also talks about studies on rats, where these substances have cause growths, cancers, and increased uterus size. The substances he referred to were in the sunscreen i was using. Now i wonder whether this could have caused excess oestrogen in my system and contributed to fibroid growth? Maybe that combined with my stress? One thing for sure is that i wont be touching this sunscreen again. I am going to look for natural based sunscreens.

After much reasearch I finally found a sunscreen without 4-MBC and some of the other nasties mentioned by Dr Dingle.
The sunscreen is by a company called Natural Instincts.
I emailed the company and they said the ingredients are as follows: Water (Purified), Zinc Oxide (micronized), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Vitamin E Acetate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cyclomethicone, Magnesium Sulphate, Citric Acid, Isostearyl Neopentanoate, Isopropyl Myristate, Ethoxylated Hydroxystearate, PVP Tricontene, Sodium Methyl Glycinate, Disodium EDTA
It's available through Priceline stores and at Chemist Warehouse.
Tried it and it's not greasy at all. Smooths on nicely and works well. Alittle pricier than the average brand, but well worth it.
