I am 32, single, childless, and living in Australia.

As a teenager I had dermoid ovarian cysts, and have had 2 abdominal laparotomies to have them removed.

Each year I have had an ultrasound to check how my ovaries are.
Last week, my ultrasound showed that the ovaries are normal, but I have a small intramural fibroid and uterine polyp.

The only symptoms i have is that my last period came a week late and was quite painful.

I am due to see an obgyn next week to discuss what my options are.

I am hoping that because my fibroid is small, i will somehow be able to shrink it with alternative therapies as i am not keen on having surgery. My last surgery resulted in severe complications. So i am trying to avoid this option as much as possible.

I hope to post here useful information on my journey, and I hope you will all share your experiences and knowledge.

Update :

3 months after my diagnosis of intramural fibroid (1.2cm) and uterine polyp (1cm). I had a repeat ultrasound.

The good news is that that the polyp has completely disappeared!! No sign of it. Also no irregular bleeding. My cycles are perfectly normal 28 days apart.

The bad news. The fibroid is still there. It's the same size.

I will be having yearly ultrasounds to check on its growth.

So what did i do in those 3 months:
1. Reduced intake of red meat to small portions, 3 times per week, organic only.
2. Almost completely cut out dairy. Would have the occasional cottage cheese (organic) and goats cheese. Replaced morning milk in cereal with rice milk and sometimes oat milk.
3. Lots of vegies and fruit.
4. Occassionally give in and have chcolate.
5. Completely cut out caffeine and tea.
6. Completely cut out processed meats eg ham.
7. Continue to exercise 4-5 times per wk for 30-40mins.

Since my 3 month ultrasound, i have also started taking some homeopathic remedies. Not sure if they are doing anything.

The bad news is that I havent kept up my good eating habits, and have now gained 3kg in 2 months, despite regular exercise.
However im keen to get back on the wagon so to speak.
